Okay, I found it… but the result was horrible. It takes away all the entry formatting, so that the entire thing is just one smushed, unreadable paragraph. π I think I’m just going to uninstall this theme and go with another.
Haven’t found it. Did you find it?
There is no Excerpt/more tag settings in my theme settings area. :-/
Under appearance I have theme options, and under theme options I have theme settings. Under that I only have one area: homepage/front page category settings.
Thanks for the tips on the featured slider, I’ll watch the video later today. It does seem kind of interesting.
BTW, thank you Suns for all your help.
Ah see now that makes more sense. Misreading the initial post brings it into focus. π Thank you, and I apologize for my confusion. I got the original answer from a post that I must have mis-bookmarked as this one.
I don’t want the posts compressed at all. I want them fully displayed automatically unless I use the ‘more’ tag to manually cut it somewhere down the line. This was working fine prior to the latest update, then broke upon updating and I can’t get it back.
PS – I turned on the featured slider, and there was no change. The slider showed no images (just a dotted background), but linked to the entries in the “continue reading” spot just fine. Due to the fact that it’s not displaying correctly and I don’t really want it there anyway, I have now disabled it again.
Thanks.
I never had the featured image slider turned on, and it worked fine without it previously. If it is absolutely required to have this turned on in order for the posts to display properly, that has not been said, it has only been said to press the save button within that option to refresh the cache.I realize their support is free and they don’t have to be doing this, what’s frustrating for me is that this particular feature worked fine prior to an update, and now with the update – even with all the same steps taken – it seems to have ‘broken’ and can’t be fixed and everyone acts like I’m just not listening when I repeatedly (repeatedly) explain that it isn’t working in spite of following the instructions above. I mean, even if someone came in right away with, “Hmm, don’t know then! It’s a mystery!” that would be more helpful than, “Did you follow the instructions? Well, did you follow the instructions? Try following the instructions!”. That’s the part that’s getting on my nerves and why I’m apparently not “keeping cool”.
To be totally honest with you I had no idea it was a thing to automatically hide all blog posts by default, as it seems to negate the point of blogging to me (rather than just using a more tag on long or image heavy posts when necessary). I didn’t think this would be so complicated.
My site is my personal blog here: babyslime-blog.com
I’ve changed the source file exactly as you’ve instructed and gone through the add slider/save thing to refresh the cache. I’ve done this about 15 separate times now, both inside the dashboard and in the file on my computer, deleted the file and uploaded the changed one, tried simply replacing the changed one, updated the database, tried a clean install… everything. Nothing makes it change from those annoying excerpts. I like this theme: it’s clean and simple, but I’m at my wits end with this. It worked totally fine until the last theme update, and then it changed everything back to defaults and I feel that this is a HUGE oversight to not have a clear, obvious option to toggle this excerpt thing on or off.To summarize –
Yes: I have selected the entire box of text.
Yes: I have remembered to go through the slider/save thing to refresh the cache.
Yes: I have changed the text exactly as shown.
Yes: I have tried a clean install.
Yes: I have downloaded all the updates.
No: it is still not working.Yes. I know. That was already said. I already followed those instructions to the letter. Nothing. Changed. At. All.
As I said: I made the change to the file (and saved it… why would I not press the save button?) and there has been zero change. None. Zip. Zilch. Still presenting as it was.
Its still changed exactly as specified above. Still not seeing any difference in the presentation whatsoever.
I’m having the same issue. I actually fixed it about a week and a half earlier when I set up my blog, which was using a previous update of this theme, but once the theme updated to its newest version earlier it reset that change.
Your above fix broke my entire website, until I realized I took your instructions too literally. I’ve fixed it now, refreshed the cache, but nothing changed. I’m still showing the excerpts on every post. Is there a new way to fix this now that the theme has updated?
