No it doesn’t. It wouldn’t even work since entries to other domains are not allowed and result in an sitemap error. And it wouldn’t even make sense since sitemap entries don’t increase the page rank, they ensure indexing.
The only thing where the plugin name and a link appears is when you open the sitemap in your browser and your browser renders the XML with the XSLT stylesheet to make it look prettier for you. It has no effect on search engines, since they don’t load or use the XSLT stylesheet.

Thanks for your feedback. Which version did you install? The current one is the new beta, with which I don’t receive any deprecated warnings.
Thanks, could you try to to disable the “Revision Removal” plugin and see if it works?
What does Google say?
I’ve seen that the output contains a BOM (Byte Order Mark) which was probably accidentally left by another plugin. The files of the sitemap plugin are all BOM free.

For now you can use a caching plugin like W3 Total Cache. I’ve tested it successfully with the newest beta and the “Basic Disk” caching mode.

it alway uses the settings which you defined in the WordPress admin interface for the site / blog URLs. Is it correct there?

yes it changed with the addition of custom post types. “posts” are now just another post type so there could be pt-post, pt-xyz, pt-gallery or whatever…

Hmm, could you provide the URL of the sitemap so I can have a look?
The ping works, but the plugin checks for an english response. Bing changed the response to be language specific (bases on IP) and there is no way to force Bing to reply in English.
The new beta version doesn’t d this check anymore, I will update the current stable one soon too.
