Thanks esmi, by following those steps I was able to narrow it down to the a bug in the podpress plugin.

I am having the same problem, but for me it is just the category feeds that are not respecting the change. I have it set to the past “500” posts, and the normal feed shows every post, whereas the category feed only shows the most recent 100-150. You can see the behavior here:

Any ideas would be most appreciated.

Edit, it appears to only be for the pretty url feed, because the ID based one works correctly.
