In reply to: [Category Posts in Custom Menu] List all posts of CPT vs CPT Taxonomy.Hi dwcouch,
thanks for your message. It must be because I have the flu right now, but I don’t understand what you want to do exactly. Can you give me a specific example?
In any case, I’m afraid I won’t be extending the plugin much. As it is, I’ve found very little response from the community regarding help with beta testing and I won’t be adding any functionality until I’ve released version 1.0 of my plugin.
Kind regards,

In reply to: [Category Posts in Custom Menu] %post_date()As for formatting, I’m using the mysql2date function supplied by WordPress, which builds on the date formatting in PHP. If your formatting isn’t supported by my plugin, it’s because WordPress and PHP don’t support it. I won’t be editing that functionality to support more than WordPress does.

In reply to: [Category Posts in Custom Menu] %post_date()Hi Matej,
please don’t reopen closed threads, open a new topic instead.

DianaHi doctordri,
have you tried disabling all other plugins and reverting to the default WordPress theme?
Kind regards,
DianaHi Fabio,
that’s good to hear, that it works well 🙂
Just a few checks:
– Have you tested under WordPress 4.0?
– Have you tested a good mix of options?Thank you very much for testing. I’ll be waiting for a second user to have tested it, then I’ll release it. If you do encounter any problems that are caused by my plugin, please let me know.
Kind regards,
DianaHi fmazocca,
the Development Version adds *some* support for nested categories. What it *does not* do, is automatically *find* the categories.
So, what you need to do is:
– Add the category and its subcategories to the menu
– For each category and subcategory, you check “Create submenu containing links to posts in this category.”
– Ensure that for all categories and subcategories, “Remove original menu item” is set to “Never”.I.e. in the backend, under Appearance > Menus, you create the structure
Category A
– Category BNow, what you will see in the menu on your site (frontend) is something like this:
Category A
– Post A1
– Post A2
– Post B1
– Category B
— Post B1For this, I’ve added a new option, called “Subcategory posts”. What you need to do, is set this to “Exclude” for Category A. This makes Category A skip the posts that belong to a subcategory. Now you get:
Category A
– Post A1
– Post A2
– Category B
— Post B1You can download the latest Development Version from https://wordpress.org/plugins/category-posts-in-custom-menu/developers/. Click “Development Version” to download a .zip file.
Let me be clear, I would like to add functionality to have the plugin automatically find the categories itself, but for now it’s just not feasible. I want to get version 1.0 of the plugin out first, as soon as I have found at least two people who have tested it thoroughly. After that, we’ll see what 2015 brings.
If you’re willing and able to test the new version, yes please! 🙂
Kind regards,

In reply to: [Category Posts in Custom Menu] Very useful pluginHi tashword,
thank you for your review.
As you can see in the forums, I’ve been working on a version 1.0 of the plugin, but I’m in dire need of someone who is willing to test the current Development Version before I release it. To anyone who reads this: If you are willing and able to grab the latest Development Version and test it, I’d be very grateful. Any bugs or issues encountered, and (detailed) steps on how to reproduce it, may be posted in the support forums. As long as nobody has tested it, I’m afraid I’m not going to officially release it.
Kind regards,
DianaDear Davis,
I’ve just noticed that WPMU Dev’s CustomPress is a paid plugin. As mentioned in previous threads, I will not pay for plugins just to test my own plugin, which is free.
If you can give me steps to reproduce the glitch, *without* me having to install paid plugins, I’m happy to help. If certain problems only occur with paid plugins, please contact the plugin authors of said plugins, as they have the resources to track plugin incompatibilities.
Kind regards,
DianaHi Davis,
can you be specific as to when this occurs? Which steps (with/without CustomPress) do I have to follow to reproduce this?
Note that without any other plugins, i.e. just WordPress with Category Posts in Custom Menu, I have no such glitches… I’m not saying glitches cannot occur, just that I need and greatly appreciate someone willing to hunt them with me. Any detailed information you’re willing to give will benefit the plugin. Thank you.
Kind regards,

In reply to: [Category Posts in Custom Menu] Version 1.0: Looking for beta testersHi Davis,
that would be great! You can grab the current Development Version from https://wordpress.org/plugins/category-posts-in-custom-menu/developers/
Click ‘Development Version’ and you can download a .zip file with this version, which is a work in progress and candidate for release 1.0
Kind regards,
Diana(Will look into https://wordpress.org/support/topic/subcategories-in-their-own-container-separate-from-posts-and-featured-images?replies=5 this weekend, as commented.)
Hi Davis,
thank you for your reply.
I will install WPMU Dev’s CustomPress this weekend and do exactly as you have described. Will report back a.s.a.p.
Note: Which version did you test this with, 0.9.5 or the current Development Version?
Kind regards,

In reply to: [Category Posts in Custom Menu] Menu StructuresHi John,
thank you for your message.
Actually, I’ve got version 1.0 stand-by waiting for someone to test it. I’ve included exactly the functionality you’re requesting here. Would you be able to test-drive this version? You can grab the Development Version from the Developers Tab (just click “Development Version” and it’ll download a zip file with the new plugin waiting to be released).
As for the second question, I’m afraid I don’t understand what you mean, sorry. You ‘selected’ an item? As in, you hovered over it with the mouse? What theme are you using?
Kind regards,

In reply to: [Category Posts in Custom Menu] I have a problem with this plugin> What exactly should I look for there “Name” in the option menu?
Sorry, can you rephrase that please?
> Another question, since it is not a widget, as I will put the Sidebar ??
The plugin works on Navigation Menus. Where a Navigation Menu appears, depends on the Theme. Also, there may be plugins that allow you to place a menu in a Widget Area, such as Sidebar or Footer.
Hope this helps.

In reply to: [Category Posts in Custom Menu] I have a problem with this pluginHi Icar,
thanks for your message. To use the plugin, go to Appearance > Menus and use it. Also see the documentation. If you do not see the required dropdowns and checkboxes at Appearance > Menus, this could be because the theme and plugin are incompatible, please check by reverting to a default WordPress theme.
Note, the plugin is not a widget.
Kind regards,
Diana
