    hey @jcastaneda

on the old blog (which has the wordpress somehow corrupted) I have installed several plugins, only 3 are activated now 2 anti-spam and 1 for backup WordPress

you think the issue comes from the plugins?

I get not error messages. just the wordpress editor doesn’t load, instead I get an “Index of…” list

did you just update your wordpress version?
e.g. after I did an update to wordpress 5.0.3 I can no longer access wp-admin and my blog homepage…

also after the import when I try to upload images to the media library (via a post edit) either the image upload fails, or it loads an image that is e.g. 2/3 grey (partial upload of the image). if I try to upload images before importing the content from the original blog, then the image upload works without issues.

(I did many many tests, installs, imports, etc)

    hey @macmanx

thanks for the hit. I didn’t yet apply your solution, as I am trying to somehow backup my blog.

    so I tried this:
    – on a separate site (that never had wordpress installed on it), I installed wordpress 5.0.3
    – I exported the blog from my site, and imported it on the other site
    – import completed with several image files failed to import or some warning errors – basically it did not import some page feature images (header image)

the problem is that after the import if I try to reinstall wordpress I get an error:
    Downloading update from https://downloads.wordpress.org/release/wordpress-5.0.3-no-content.zip…
Download failed.: The checksum of the file (a00c4d08fd31ca73c6296f044726d818) does not match the expected checksum value (a974cbcd669f5f5f52607a31b09100cf).
    Installation Failed

by now I’ve deleted/reinstalled/reimported the blog several times…
before the import, I can reinstall wordpress as many times as I want without any issue. but after the import, it doesn’t work anymore…
so the export from my original blog is somehow corrupted…

I’ve tried with exports from several days, but all these exports are after that fateful day when I upgraded by wordpress version killing my homepage and the wordpress editor (see my original message).

I won’t try your solution until I have a functional, safe back-up of my blog. I don’t want to lose my blog…

so any ideas what the root cause of this problem is? how to solve it?

    thank you!

p.s. after the import I can’t even install new themes on my blog…
Installation failed: The package could not be installed. PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature

well I have the same problem, but I did not delete my homepage, or any other page.

I just updated my blog to wordpress 5.0.3 and the homepage now looks like this:
    http://sorinfitu.ro/blog/
    an index of some files…

if I check in wp editor in Pages it still shows me a “Homepage” page, and in Appearances – Customize theme all the settings are the same as before, but in the preview it either shows that index of /blog or if I play with some settings then it shows “Not Found The requested URL /blog/ was not found on this server.”

also, if I log out of the wordpress editor, when I login again instead of the editor I get an index of /blog/wp-admin with a long list of files.
luckly I can use the “back” button to reenter the wp editor before logout.

e.g. if I create a new post and try to preview it before publish, it shows me again a page with index of /blog instead of the respective preview…

so anyone has any idea how to fix this?
