Although I have not gone through the entire process in FAQ question 1, I am reporting as follows:

    1. The line number indicated for check_backup_files() is wrong, it is on line 245
    2. The resulting line seems to read the db name, user name, password, character set, and the backup path; they all seem to be accurate as I compared to the config file and the WP DBManager settings
    3. After running the backup once more, it has added another error warning as in the previous message referring to line 265
    4. I have not yet inquired about running SSH from my hosting provider, I am reporting the results of what I could do on my own

    Thanks,

    Cemal

Lester, I have found a possible clue that may mean more to you than me. In the php.error.log file there are lines that refer to a specific line in the wp-dbmanager.php file. Here is the line, the domain name is replaced with xxx:

[14-Jan-2017 22:14:25 UTC] PHP Warning: passthru() has been disabled for security reasons in /home/xxxxxxx/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-dbmanager/wp-dbmanager.php on line 265

On a few occasions the line number reference is to line 251 in the same file.

I hope it gives you enough ammo to get it going again.

    Thank you,

    Cemal

No Lester, there is no file being created in the backup folder. Additionally, when WP DBManager is active, my login time becomes exceedingly long on this site, something like 1.5-2 minutes. If it is disabled, it is quite normal, in 10-15 seconds.

I will follow the instructions in the FAQ and see if I can find other information. I may also try disabling other plugins and see if it makes any difference. Strangely, I have no difficulty running the backup on the servers of the same hosting provider, perhaps the same server.

    Thanks for the pointer,

    Hi,

I gave my hosting company support an admin level user ID and they sent the following message (folder and path are redacted):
    ————————————————
We can now assure you that the following lines in your file /domain.com/.user.ini:

    ; Wordfence WAF
    auto_prepend_file = ‘/xxx/yyyy/public_html/zzzzz/wwwww/wordfence-waf.php’
    ; END Wordfence WAF
    max_execution_time = 120

are successfully parsed by PHP. You can view them here – keptlight.com/phpinfo.php

Moreover, your Wordfence firewall works out properly. You can ignore the warning you get in your WP-admin.

Should you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us, we are available 24/7.
    ————————————————

So, was it a cosmetic artifact left on the dashboard the source of my chasing this red herring?

    Thanks,

    Cemal

    Hello,

I checked again, and the “Local” value is filled with the correct path and file name but the master value is empty. Is that supposed to have the same path information? I will contact my hosting company and inquire about the ini files. I understand the .user.ini is the file that needs to be processed.

Thank you for your assistance, once I hear from the hosting tech support and try their suggestion I will update this post.

Hello again, and thank you for staying with me. Via e-mail I will send you the contents of the files mentioned along with folder info etc.

My hosting provider is DailyRazor.com. Shall I ask them whether the user.ini is loading or not? Perhaps I can check it from my cpanel? All said, if WFFW was not running at all, would it still have files with today’s date in the logs folder?

When I first configured the Firewall, I accepted the default choice because it was best based on your experience. I will be glad to remove Wordfence, delete all the files and tables, start from scratch. Take a look at the mail I am sending you as well.

Thank you, I am behind CloudFlare, you saw the ngnx part, what can I do to try and fix the setup. By the way, for various reasons I disconnected from CloudFlare a couple of times, and made sure that I changed the setting fro WF to get the IP in the best way but the incorrect configuration message never disappeared.

As I wrote in my second post here, I checked the server settings and found the variable pointing to the right folder and file. I have read through the document, that’s how I found how to check the server settings. Let me know if there is anything else, or can I leave the firewall setting broken, if it indeed is, while the rest of Wordfence functioning properly.

By the way, I looked at the firewall page, it says firewall status is enabled and protecting despite the message on top of the screen. Obviously one of them is wrong.

    Thank you,

    Cemal

I am hoping someone will answer this question. I have also checked the system configuration, the auto_prepend_file points to the correct wordfence-waf.php file. Is this a case where all is fine except the signal sent for wrong configuration is wrong?

Thanks @icyapril. I wish plugin developers incorporated error checking and reporting as a matter of course. Many years before WordPress was even an idea, I did a fair amount of coding where error checking was top priority along with meaningful reporting of it.

That said, I will mark this as resolved. At least for the time being I removed my site from CloudFlare, it was getting all too confusing what was causing the problem for the site to go down.

By the way, since I am not getting any updates I will not be able to let you know if and when this may be fixed. I am simply reporting what I see on my version of NG Plus, Version 1.3.31.

Thank you @abigailm, I have deactivated the plugin already and all seem to be fine. I have been a long time CloudFlare user and I have had this plugin installed since when they first made it available. But I have not fully understood what exactly it does. But your explanation makes sense, giving access to some CF features without having full access to it to Webmasters.

It will remain off! Until I hear to the contrary from CloudFlare staff for a reason why I should keep it on and how to keep off the ClourFlare timeouts.

@photocrati, would you like me to report the bug as an email message to support or report it on a webpage? If the latter, please provide me with the link as I cannot report problems on the member accessible site.

I tried it on my live site with the same workaround and it worked. So, adding fancybox to the do not track field in SlimStat works. I wish these would not even emerge but finding a workaround in short order has been very good, thank you both.

@jason, thank you for chiming in and pointing me in the right direction. I have added fancybox in the box “Do not track” and all seems to be working fine. It is a fix for the suddenly emerged problem. I have no idea what WordPress 4.7 has to do with all this though.

    Thanks,

I am OK for the time being to turn off tracking in SlimStat, especially on my test site which is not crawled or visited anyway. Now I know if I upgrade on my live site to WP 4.7 I will turn off tracking. I am not exactly sure what I will miss, if any.

I am taking too much of your time by finding problems. Sorry about that, but I think it is better to know the problem before it becomes too big.

Thanks again, feel free to mark this as resolved if there is nothing for me to test for you.
