Nevermind. Realized I actually renamed my custom query to something other than $wp_query.

Same problem here. WP version 3.6.
Richard, this actually turned out to be an issue with the new version of NEXTGen Gallery, not Jetpack.
Using a slightly modified Twenty Ten theme, NG upgrade caused visual editor post not to show up. Couldn’t enter text in the HTML view either.
Weird…
