If while trying to give me access to my site WF is disabling 2FA on my administrator account and not disabling the requirement for that administrator account to have 2FA then that is a BUG not a feature.

In reply to: [Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth] Recent update broke siteI find the support forums incredibly hard to use. I can never locate the place to start a new thread. I’m sure it is just me.
I removed the beginning of the path because I am concerned about making the structure of my site public. Maybe it doesn’t matter.
I got the message but when I visited the site I couldn’t find a problem. If the issue returns I will start a new thread using the link you provided.

In reply to: [Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth] Recent update broke siteJetpack broke one of my sites again. The original topic has been closed so I am posting to this one:
I am hosting on Hostgator. I have not contacted them yet. I have not seen problems on the other sites yet.
When seeking help with this issue, you may be asked for some of the following information:
WordPress version 5.5.1
Current theme: Twenty Fourteen (version 2.9)
Current plugin: Jetpack by WordPress.com (version 9.0.2)

In reply to: Posting link to wordpress page giving strange preview results.@sterndata Thanks for your help. I was able to get rid of the unwanted text using the shotgun method. I’m not sure what worked but now I am moving on to see if I can get an image to display.

In reply to: Posting link to wordpress page giving strange preview results.@sterndata Something has changed. Notice no “Leave a Reply” before Aug 19 or sometime thereafter. (The debugger shows it.) I would consider “Leave a Reply” as part of the theme text not part of the post. I have no clue what an OG tag is but I will research it.

In reply to: Posting link to wordpress page giving strange preview results. How can I send you a screenshot? That is not what is showing up but I’m glad that picture isn’t.
Just disabling Jetpack seems be a good temporary fix for me.
Hostgator. Has anyone contacted Hostgator support? Before I do that I will wait to see what answers the Jetpack team comes up with.
Thanks for letting me know I am not alone.
I’ve checked all my sites and all of them were broken by the same error.

In reply to: Strange search errorDoes it also happen when you search wordpress.org?
Does it only happen with chrome?
Does it happen when you disable all plugins?I have not found a solution but thanks to you I now know for sure it isn’t just me.
I wish I could upload a screenshot.

In reply to: Changing password for wordpress.orgThanks Jan.
Is there a downside to adding a note that to change email addresses that the change will have to be verified from the old email address? Apparently the issue doesn’t come up that often.

In reply to: Strange search errorThis started as a question about my one of my websites. The error occurred when I was logged in a using the search on the black banner at the top of the screen. I disabled all plugins but that didn’t help.
Then I discovered that I was getting the same error on all my WordPress sites.
Then I discovered that I was getting it on all my Chromebooks and PCs when using the Chrome browser. I did not get it using the Microsoft browser.
I cleared all the cookies and it is still there.
I logged onto WordPress.org to see if it was a topic here. The error also shows up when I do a search here.
From all of this I have concluded:
1) That my websites are not a specific problem. (This makes me feel better.)
2) That WordPress must be a part of the problem.
3) That somehow Chrome is involved.
4) That Facebook developers resources are involved.I am not knowingly using any plugin that involves Facebook. I am not knowingly using any chrome app that involves Facebook.
So is Facebook perhaps using a non cookie tracker that is not playing well with WordPress? Maybe that is a good thing.

In reply to: [Jetpack - WP Security, Backup, Speed, & Growth] Jetpack 3.4 breaks siteI am getting a similar message:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_generate_password() in /—/—-/public_html/—–/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/class.jetpack-client.php on line 54
This this is coming up when attempting to access jetpack on tour different sites after upgrading to 3.4.
Dashes indicate parts of the URL I do not want to make public.
@jrivett. I buy it not because I want the added features but because great software like Wordfence deserves as much support as I am able to provide.
I think it is always best to run the most restrictive firewall rules you can without interfering with legitimate users. I have very long lockout periods, very few login attempts, block all attempts from unregistered users names. I also use another app that gives me Google’s two factor authentication because I find the one in Wordfence difficult to use.
