• A fresh clean install or running the upgrade on a previous vesion, or it does not matter, they are the same.

  • hmm, i thought that 1.5 and 1.2 used the same exact config file, so what would you actually be changing?

lawtai, of course, it is the same.
If I understand well what dawg is saying, s/he states that a new WP 1.5 install if connected to the old db created by 1.2 (by putting the necessary info in the config file) it will work.
    And I say… BS… it won’t!
(I had to import an old blog from greymatter. The script doesn’t work with 1.5, so I installed 1.2.2; imported the gm blog, and then I had to run the upgrade in order to be able to use WP 1.5)

they do, I would only be adding/changing the user name/db name/. I have two installs on my server, one has done the upgrade from 1.2.1 the othe a fresh install of 1.5 but I could change the config from the 1.2.1 upgrade to the other and all my post will show, I suppose we could do a mock trial.

I understood the original query to be asking about a comparison between starting with a fresh install of 1.5 vs. upgrading. So I guess I’m confused by the point of this thread.
