I keep getting an error “failed to save webstory”. Nothing I do seems to be working and I’ve been trying this all day. Very frustrated. Is it something with the latest wordpress update?

  • Hi there @xxplumcrazeexx , thank you for opening your topic. Could you please open your browser developer tools and check for any console errors where you see this failed to save error and share those details??

You can copy and paste the errors here or share a screenshot. You can use services like JumpShare or Imgur to share.

Additionally, let’s check for any plugin conflicts by troubleshooting with the Health Check plugin. This is like disabling all other plugins, but only for you, not for visitors (so nothing will break).

Can you please perform the following troubleshooting steps?

    1. Install and activate the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin
    2. In WordPress admin, go to Plugins and click Troubleshoot to enable Troubleshooting Mode. This mode disables active plugins and switches to a default theme safely; this will not affect what your site visitors see, as it only changes the look and feel of your website for logged-in administrators.
    3. On the Troubleshooting Mode page, under Web Stories, click Enable while troubleshooting
    4. Go into the Web Stories Editor and see if you’re still not able to save.
If saving is successful while in Troubleshooting Mode, re-enable your site’s plugins one by one by clicking Enable while Troubleshooting for each and checking the story again. This can help us pinpoint if a particular plugin or theme is causing the issue.

Please let me know what you find either way and we’ll go from there. Thanks!

Here is a copy of the errors. I have no idea what any of it means.

I installed the Health check plugin and hit troubleshoot but nothing is happening. There is no “enable” button anywhere.

I installed the Health check plugin and hit troubleshoot but nothing is happening. There is no “enable” button anywhere. I have contacted my host and they aren’t seeing any issue on their end. Something must be conflicting because it works on my other blog with no problem.

@xxplumcrazeexx Thank you for sharing these details. You’ll see enable when you’ve expanded the dropdown like this.

Can you tell me who your hosting provider is?

@xxplumcrazeexx We are going to mark your topic as resolved as we haven’t received a response. Please feel free to open a new support topic if you continue to experience any issues. Thank you!
