Updated WordPress to version 5.9, and now I can’t edit my previous pages/projects. I get 3 options once I click on “Edit project” – Attempt Recovery / Copy Post Text / Copy Error. None of these options is working.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi @claromarketing

I’ve seen you’ve mentioned having difficulties editing your previous pages/projects, and that this specifically happened after updating to WordPress 5.9, which makes me wonder if this is related to the Block Editor, since that’s how you would be editing the pages/projects.

Could you test and try editing the pages while Jetpack is disabled? Do let us know the results after you’ve been able to check that.

    Hi @muffinpeace

If I disable the Jetpack plugin, our “Portfolio” and all pages disappear. Even when I press the “Attempt Recovery” option, I get a blank screen.

    Hello, there.

Jetpack would have to stay active if you were editing any of the Portfolio pages since they were created using Jetpack custom post types specifically.

Are you able to deactivate Jetpack and work on any of your other page/post types without issue? Or does this only pertain to Portfolio items?

    Hello,

I can edit other pages and posts without any issues. I have these issues only when I am trying to edit Portfolio items.

    Thanks.

    Hi there

This appears to be a known error when using the Gutenberg Block editor, as described here:
    https://techjourney.net/how-to-fix-the-editor-has-encountered-an-unexpected-error-in-wordpress/

Can you try the troubleshooting steps suggested there and see if it helps?

    Hello,

I have tried the steps in this article, but they did not help. I found another solution (not perfect). I have downloaded the “Classic WordPress Editor”, which allows me to use classic WordPress editing features to edit Jetpack projects. I will use this plugin, for now, to update existing projects (I can create new projects without any issues), and hopefully, the next WordPress/Jetpack update will resolve all issues.

    Thank you for your help!
