For a bilingual website I want to translate only dynamic content, not posts or other static page content.

Many plugins already provide translation files (for example .po files), so these strings are already translated and do not need to be translated manually again.

Does WPML support using or importing these existing plugin translation files so that the translations are applied automatically on a bilingual site?

    Hello there,

Yes, WPML uses existing plugin translation files, so those strings usually do not need to be translated manually again. This works when the plugin is properly localized and includes its own .po/.mo translations. WPML is then mainly used to translate user-generated content and strings from plugins or themes that are not translated yet, or when you want to change an existing translation.
