    Hello,

    I posted a site yesterday.

I made plugin updates this morning, everything worked except the Yoast SEO plugin which caused me a 500 error.

Fortunately, I have backups at 7am every morning so I restored it. I redone the maj except that Yoast SEO that I do not dare to do for fear of re-planting the site.

Is it possible to update this extension without replanting the site

Thank you in advance for your answer !

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • @pexys Can you please let us know whether the update that caused the 500 error was the 9.0.3 update or 9.1 ?

Also, did something go wrong with the update the caused you to only have to restore the plugin’s files, or was the update completed successfully and the 500 error was due to some type of incompatibility with your site or configuration? If the update did complete successfully and the 500 error still occurred this may be due to a conflict as you can sometimes experience functionality problems or unexpected behavior from the plugin due to plugin or theme conflicts. Can you confirm you have performed a complete plugin/theme conflict check by disabling other plugins, and resetting the theme to a default such as twentyseventeen? We have additional information on how to check for a conflict here: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/how-to-check-for-plugin-conflicts/

Also, we understand that as the plugin caused an error on the site requiring a restore that you may not want to perform a conflict check on a live site. To perform a conflict check without affecting your main site you may want to create a staging site. Some staging sites may be provided by your host provider. We ask that you please speak with them. Additionally, if needed, this guide explains more about creating a staging site: http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-create-staging-environment-for-a-wordpress-site/.

    Hello,

    It was the 9.1 update.

Your server’s error logs should provide more insight as to why the issue happened. Please contact your web host or server admin and request an audit of your server logs. If your web host cannot pinpoint the cause, please provide us with the error message(s) around the time the plugin updated and returned a 500 error.
