Hey Mike,
If the logging is enabled and you run the optimization, you, indeed, can view the log file via /wp-admin/tools.php?page=rvg-optimize-database
See:
Optimize Database after Deleting Revisions
peace,
Rolf
That looks like what I .used to see but now there’s no buttons for viewing or deleting the log file.
Here’s what I see:

Hey Mike,
Can you see if there’s a log file on the server (with FTP of something)?
Folder: /wp-content/plugins/rvg-optimize-database/logs/
Rolf
/wp-content/plugins/rvg-optimize-database/logs/ was empty.
On checking the backups I can see that rvg-optimize-db-log.html existed in that directory at 23:10 on January 6th but the directory was empty at 05:10 on January 7th.
Could it be that the file was deleted in the course of the upgrade from 4.4.2 to 4.4.3 at 01:01 on January 7th ?
I’ve restored rvg-optimize-db-log.html from the backup and the buttons for viewing and deleting the logfile are now visible and working. I’ve run a manual optimisation and confirmed that the results were appended to the logfile.

Hey Mike,
Are you using the scheduler?
Then reset the scheduler: switch it to NOT SCHEDULED, and then switch it back to the original schedule.
Good luck!
Rolf
The log file was deleted again last night with the upgrade to version 4.5.
I’m using the scheduler. I tried switching to NOT SCHEDULED, and then back to weekly but it made no difference and there were still no buttons for viewing and deleting the log file.
I’ve restored the log file from the backup and all is working correctly again.
Would it be possible to arrange for the log file to be retained across upgrades instead of being lost. Perhaps it would be better to store the results as a serialized 2 dimensional array in wp_options instead of keeping a log file in the plugin directory.

Hey Mike,
When WordPress installs a new version of a plugin, it deletes all files on the server, so including the log file (in the case of my plugin).
Nothing I can do about that.
If you really want to keep the log file, you should make a backup before upgrading.
peace,
Rolf
