• I’m using the top posts and pages widget but I’m getting broken thumbnails for certain posts (as in an “image not available” marker). I can see no reason why: I’ve used Regenerate Thumbnails to recreate the ones that show as a broken image, but they still don’t show. The posts have the featured image set as well, in case that matters.

It’s also odd (IMHO) that the widget doesn’t use my thumbnail size settings, but defaults to some other standard.

    So, two things:

    1. Is there a reason a thumbnail wouldn’t show up in the top posts widget when it’s available?
    2. Can I change the thumbnail size in the widget?

    Thanks in advance.

P.S. It’s still really annoying not to have a filter for JUST posts in that widget. 🙂

Additional: if I try to open the thumbnail image in its own tab/window I get a “We cannot complete this request, remote data could not be fetched” error.

Another additional note: it’s always the same ones that are unavailable, while others work fine.

Is this the widget you’re using?

Are images in that widget on your site the only ones affected?

Can you provide an example URL for one of the images that isn’t working?

“Is this the widget you’re using?”

I’m using the one built in to Jetpack. It shows as “Top Posts & Pages (Jetpack)” on the widgets screen. Reading the description of that one, I think it’s the same one! 🙂

“Are images in that widget on your site the only ones affected?”

It affects (seemingly) random images on a variety of my sites, all of which use the same widget in the same way. Only that widget is affected, since it’s the only one pulling data from anywhere other than the site itself.

“Can you provide an example URL for one of the images that isn’t working?”

I can but many of the images are NSFW, so I’m not sure I *should*, so I won’t! 🙂

It’s also difficult because images move on and off the widget all the time (obviously, since that’s what it’s for). Bizarrely, I found one today that didn’t work, but when I went through the steps of getting a URL and getting the cloud URL, it appeared. So I found another on another site (definitely NSFW) and that one stayed dead.

I’ve put the same widget on another, totally SFW site, and I’ll keep an eye on it. As soon as I get a dead’un, I’ll post a URL.

Found an image that’s freaked out.

At the time of posting, it should be second in the top posts, but it shows as a broken image (“We cannot complete this request, remote data could not be fetched”).
