• Hi

I can see, that this issue has been dealt with before, but I can’t seem to find any solution to it.

I am using Jetpack Tiled Galleries on this page: http://bit.ly/1xxoOhY

Unfortunately, not all of the thumbnails show up in the gallery – but at least 2 or 3 of them appear as broken every time the page loads (even though the images are fine). Different images all the time and it doesn’t seem to have anything to do with file size.

Any ideas as to what is going on?

    Thanks,

Your gallery appears to be displayed properly on my end:

Have you managed to solve the issue by yourself?

If you still experience issues, could you post links to some of the images that appear broken on your end?

    Thanks!

    Thanks for the answer.

That’s really strange…Here’s how it looks on my end: http://bit.ly/1qEmMIM (three images missing). Very consistently there are 2-4 images missing every time it reloads

The problem may be specific for this computer. I checked on my iPad, and the images are ok there. I’ll check some different computers tomorrow.

I have reproduced the problem on a pc on a separate network (IE and chrome) and on a Nexus 5 phone, so it definitely does not have anything to do with my pc at home.

As I said, it doesn’t seem to have anything to do with the image sizes, which are – admittedly – a bit heavy. The smaller images fail just as often as the large ones.

Could you post links to some of the broken images, so I can take a closer look and compare with what I see?

    Thanks!

The thing is that it changes all the time. So the images, that were broken at one time are fine after a f5 page refresh.

And the next time it’s some other fotos. Different all the time…

So I can’t really post any links to the images, that are broken, because it changes all the time …

Hm, that’s annoying. I’m not sure why I can’t reproduce.

When an image is broken, could you try to open it in a new window, and see if it is still broken there?

Don’t you just love non-reproducible errors ;-). It works for me on an iPad but not on IE, chrome (pc) and Nexus 5. Perhaps Safari is fine – overall?

I just tried clicking on a handful of the images that are not displayed properly in the gallery – and it actually works. They open just fine and display the full photo when clicked upon.

At other points I have had some error messages, but that seems to be working all right now.

So the only issue is, that the tiled gallery doesn’t display properly.

    Indeed πŸ™‚

I tried on Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and in IE10, but it seems to work just fine:

At this point, I’m afraid I can only suggest that you try to upload new, smaller images, to see if the problem is limited to this set of images.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks for checking on the different platforms. I’ve uploaded new images and the average size for each image is now appr. 200k. Which I think should be ok.

… but still 1-5 images fail each time the gallery loads. I won’t bother uploading a new screendump – it’s exactly the same as before – on different browsers and pc’s.

I have noticed that I am not the only one with this problem, but I still haven’t managed to find a solution:

It should indeed. I use images that are way larger on my own site, and never ran into any issues.

I wonder, since I can’t reproduce on my end, if the problem could be limited to your machine. Do you experience similar issues when viewing Tiled Galleries on other sites? Try these, and let me know how they look to you?

    Your galleries look fine here.

I have tried my own gallery on two separate machines – on two separate networks + a phone on 4g – errors on all platforms.

I tried troubleshooting the random selection-function, thinking that it might have something to do with it
    – I tried switching off random selection – one image fails – same image fails at every refresh.
    – I switched it back on – now 5 images fail – different ones than the first time – and now the first one works.
    – I switched it off – now all images work.
    – On – 5 images fail….

I haven’t encountered any other Jetpack galleries with the same error.

I was thinking, that one of the differences between the typical gallery and mine is that my gallery has a large number of photos (43).

So I tested with a smaller amount (15) – same errors. Three images missing.

… and one last thing. Sometimes the following error message will appear after clicking on one of the images that are not working:

“We cannot complete this request, remote data could not be fetched”

    Thanks for testing all this.

The problem seems to be limited to your server, but I can’t understand why I can’t reproduce it on my end.

Could you contact your hosting providers, and ask them to check your server error logs around the time when you tried to load a gallery? Do they see any errors in the logs for some of the images?
