I’ve had a thumbnail issue on all social media, particularly Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest when I shared my web post. Regarding Facebook, I debugged several times but failed with a message that read “Provided og:image URL, https://tripmuze.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/5A332F9C-2F4A-4D9D-BA5E-BD10C367686A.jpeg could not be processed as an image because it has an invalid content type.” to the web post https://tripmuze.com/2020/11/10/boston-music-trip-donna-summer-introduction-fairly-tale-high-boston. I checked the setting of Yoast but nothing was wrong. I set up Facebook App ID as well. Nothing is proven but I suspect Jetpack might cause the issue. The reason is several months ago, Jetpack was suddenly down and disconnected from my site by itself. I removed the Jetpack once, reinstalled, and reconnected with my site. Since then, there were 2 big issues besides this thumbnail issue.

    1. Images weren’t shown on Related Posts. So I don’t use Jetpack’s “Related Post” but other plug in.
    2. So many spam comments even though I’d had none. Once an “author” was added with my permission. I set up an anti-spam and security plugin.

Please let me know if it is Jetpack’s issue and there is a method to solve it. Very frustrating issue. Thank you

  • Hello,

Thanks for asking us the questions above. None of them seems directly related to Jetpack.

“Provided og:image URL, https://tripmuze.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/5A332F9C-2F4A-4D9D-BA5E-BD10C367686A.jpeg could not be processed as an image because it has an invalid content type.” to the web post https://tripmuze.com/2020/11/10/boston-music-trip-donna-summer-introduction-fairly-tale-high-boston. Jetpack simply sends new post links to Facebook. And then finally Facebook decides which image is to display on your site by checking the og:image tag.

In this case, your image is returning 403 Forbidden error. Here is what I am seeing: https://d.pr/i/373VmQ

You will need to contact your hosting provider and ask them to check the file and folder permissions for your site.

    1. Images weren’t shown on Related Posts. So I don’t use Jetpack’s “Related Post” but other plug in.

If you can re-enable Jetpack related posts, we can have a look. But it’s likely that the same permission issue happens like the Publicize issue.

    2. So many spam comments even though I’d had none. Once an “author” was added with my permission. I set up an anti-spam and security plugin.

This is not a specific issue with Jetpack, especially you’re using Jetpack free plan. You may check your anti-spam and security plugin.

If possible, we recommend using Akismet https://docs.akismet.com/getting-started/activate/

Please let us know if you have any specific Jetpack issues.

Hey. You were right. I contacted my server again and they finally found .htaccess caused the issue. Everything including the “Related” thumbnail issue was solved. Thank you!
