Taxonomy checkboxes missing in Gutneberg

Hello, I have two custom post types (bios and alumni-news) both have their own taxonomy (types for bios and alumni-news-types for alumni-news). One works fine in Gutenberg (alumni-news/alumni-news-types) where I can see the checkboxes for which taxonomy items are selected already, and I can select new items. On the other (bios/types), when in the edit screen, all I get is a link to add a new Type.

Both taxonomies have the show in rest selection set to true. I also tried turning that setting to false and re-saving, and back on since that worked on a similar issue with CPT UI and Gutneberg.

Both taxonomy settings look to be the same. Here’s a screenshot of those

Hi @winterstreet

Looks like you’re experiencing a similar issue that this person experienced over at https://wordpress.org/support/topic/registered-taxonomies-isnt-appearing-on-edit-new-post-type-page/page/2/#post-13925126 where they were having overall issues with “types” as a taxonomy slug.

I know I opened up https://github.com/WebDevStudios/custom-post-type-ui/issues/799 that would be restricting just “types” for a slug, but have not gone through with that edit thus far.

I wonder if you would be fine with making the taxonomy slug something else, and then for the rewrite slug, using “types” like I assume you intended.

Worth a try at least.

I was wondering if the taxonomy name was the problem. I’m fine changing it, but will that break everything that’s been applied already? There are a lot.

Anywhere that you have set up custom code that references the taxonomy slug will need to be updated to reflect it.

Regarding the terms themselves in the database, you should get some UI checkboxes that you can check to include conversion of all terms using the old slug to then use the new slug. Won’t hurt to run a backup quick first just in case.
