• Hi!

I don’t understand how the feature to Index media works with AIOSeo!

When I check the Media/Attachment and look in Google WMT, it is detected as URLs and not Images!

Actually, I have 9 pages indexed! I have 14 images total within these pages! But none seems to have been submitted to Google!

What am I supposed to do?

    Thanks!

I don’t know if my question was not clear enough but here’s more details!

In Google Webmaster Tools when we submit a Sitemap, we can see the quantity of URLs and Images submitted.

With AIOSeo, I have in my sitemap settings, only Pages selected!

So the results in WMT shows only the quantity of Pages submitted and no Images.

I want my images to be indexed so I select the Media/Attachment in the sitemap settings and resubmit to Google.

I was expecting to see in WMT, Pages and Images submitted but still see no images at all that been submitted.

Instead, I’m seeing the quantity of Pages that increase! ???

Something I’m doing wrong or the plugin don’t have the capability to submit images to Google index via the sitemap function?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Froggy,

You may want to start by reading about Attachments in WordPress – http://codex.wordpress.org/Post_Type#Attachment. This is a post type, a type of content. You select it as an option when embedding an image. Attachment pages for images have always been good for SEO. With All in One SEO Pack you can submit these to Google so that Google can index the information on these attachment pages.

Now, regarding Google indexing your images. Google crawls the content of a page or post on your site that you submit to them and it indexes the content on that page/post. Content includes text and images. When it crawls that content it finds your images and indexes them. There is no reason to submit them separately using a sitemap, they are part of the content that is submitted on your normal XML sitemap.

However, we will be releasing new features for image SEO management very soon including the ability to create a separate image sitemap.

Thanks for your reply wpsmort! Much appreciated!

I was asking this because when I submitted a sitemap generated by another plugin, I was seeing the number of pages and images submitted.

And the sitemap was composed of just the pages! Nothing more in there!

When I submitted the sitemap generated by AIOSeo with only Pages inside(like my old sitemap), Google only shows the quantity of Pages submitted! 0 Images!

I kept that sitemap for 2 days and was still having a pending status in Google!

Related to the fact that no images are submitted? I don’t know!

Can’t wait to see the next update!

    Hi Froggy,

Our XML Sitemap meets the exact and very specific standards required by Google. We don’t include anything more than what they ask for. This has resulted in feedback from our users that our sitemaps do much better than some others.

    Thanks wpsmort!

    Much appreciated!
    I have one last question!

When I upload one image in my WP, this image is resized in 3 different dimensions.

If I activate the media/Attachments, will it index all the 3 images or just the original?

    Thanks

Google only indexes the images that appear in your content.
