Support » Plugin: WP Live Chat Support » “Start Chat” on front end does not work

After the user enters their name, and email and clicks “Start Chat” the chat window for the user does not display / change from the name/email state.

The admin gets a notification in the back end, and can “accept” the chat, however the dialog window for the user does not show and admin messages sent to the user do not show. The user is then unable to re-open the chat window in this state.

Hosted at WPEngine, CloudFlare DNS. Checked the console and no errors. Check on multiple computers, with multiple browsers.

Interested in the Pro version but need to see the free version working full first.

    Hi there,

Thank you so much for getting in touch, I would really like to get this resolved ASAP for you.

Please open the chat dashboard, along with your JavaScript console (Chrome: F12 -> Console tab), and run the test again.

Could I ask if you are seeing any errors in the JavaScript console?

Non console errors in the admin. I even initiated a new chat using a different browser, accepted the chat in the admin, but still the front end did not change and show the chat window. Stuck in the name/email screen.

I also tried pausing Cloudflare, and clearing the WPEngine cache – still not luck – same behavior.

    Hi there,

Thank you so much for your time on this one.

I looked into this further and it appears you are loading jQuery an additional time on your site.

More specifically it appears the file is being loaded here:
    https://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.9.1.min.js

This is causing conflicts on the site which is causing transitions to fail. Are you aware of this duplicate version of jQuery being loaded?

Ah, thank you that makes sense. Usually there’s an accompanying console error! Thanks for your help.
