This is because Google changed their guidance on sitemaps here – http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2014/10/best-practices-for-xml-sitemaps-rssatom.html
To quote the new rules:
For a single XML sitemap: update it at least once a day (if your site changes regularly) and ping Google after you update it.
The amount of memory used depends on the size of your sitemap.

Ok thank you.
I haven’t updated the site for the past 3 days but the site map is updating once a day. That’s what was concerning me, considering I don’t have Schedule Daily Updates enabled?
If you don’t have Schedule Daily Updates enabled then the sitemap will update every time a robots visits it. Depending on how often your site gets crawled, that could be daily.

Ok, that makes perfect sense thanks.
I guess the last question to ask is, can this be stopped?
To the best of my knowledge google only wants to be pinged if there’s a change in the content? If there’s no change and it’s being pinged everyday it might disregard future updates.
You could add a crawl-delay to your robots.txt file but we’d strongly advise against this as it could adversely affect your SEO.

Thanks.
I actually meant can AIOSEO stop building the site map every time robots are visiting it?

Ok I will try this.
Many thanks for the support!
