From the documentation it would seem that the free version of Profile Builder supports specifying the role of a new registration using a shortcode such as:
    [wppb-register role=”Customer”]

However when new users are registered, the specified role is ignored and the user receives the default role of “Subscriber”.

Please advise whether this feature should work in the free version, and what I may have done wrong if it is supposed to work in the free version.

  • Hi,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

Yes you can specify the role of a new Registration with Profile Builder free version using the shortcode:

    Example: [wppb-register role="customer"]

You need to make sure the “customer” role is a valid (existing) User Role else the Role will revert back to the Default WordPress User Role (Subscriber) for security reasons, as specified in our docs.

The Customer role is an existing user role? This role was created by WooCommerce? Can you try the Registration specifying a Default WordPress User Role to see if it works?

    Example: [wppb-register role="editor"]

Thank you for confirming the functionality in the free version.
I was subsequently able to get it working.
I was previously erroneously using the display name of the role instead of the lowercase reference name of the role.

…and yes, the customer role was an existing user role created by WooCommerce.

Thank you again for your help in troubleshooting my issue!

    Hi,

I am glad the issue is fixed and everything is working correctly.

I will mark this support thread as resolved.

    Have a great day.

    Best regards,
