Ownership verification failed on search console for tag manager (which is installed via site kit) – Failure reason:
The Google Tag Manager snippet on your site is in the wrong location on the page.

I’m not sure why site kit, a Google entity, would not place the snippet in the correct place or allow me to verify using Google Search Console

Thanks for reaching out and sorry to hear you’re unable to verify your site. If the Tag Manager snippet has been placed via Site Kit on your site the plugin does insert the snippet using the services recommended placement.

In order to setup Tag Manager via Site Kit users must also have already successfully verified their site by connecting Search Console, so I suspect another user may have setup Site Kit or there may be a manually inserted Tag Manager snippet on your site.

If you’d like to share your site URL or preferably your Site Health information here or privately via this form I’d be happy to check your setup to ensure you’re successfully setup.

@adamlewis1233 As we haven’t received a response, I’ll mark this as resolved. Feel free to open a new support topic if you continue to encounter issues, or reopen this topic and we’d be happy to assist. Thank you!
