Resize not working?

Maybe I’m misunderstanding how resize images is supposed to work but this plugin doesn’t seem to load resized images that fit the exact slider dimensions like I assume it would.

For instance I added a 660×440 image to a 660×422 slider but the image in the slider is still 660×440 even though it says “660×422” in the file name. The bottom 18 pixels are simply hidden by the slider container. I tried Force Resize but that didn’t seem to help.

I did another test with a 400×300 slider. Again the image file name said “400×300” but the image was actually 400×266 – 34 pixels shorter than the slider.

So is the resize function based on an image’s horizontal dimension only?

I had assumed that resize would resize horizontally but also crop vertically centered so that the resulting image is always the exact slider dimensions. Or vice versa if the slider height is greater than the width. Can this plugin do this?
