Resetting Plugin – emails not sending

A few months ago, KarlEngstrom (@karlengstrom) mentioned that deactiving/activating the plugin got the emails sending again. I found that this worked for me but I’m wondering if there’s a particular issue that might be fixed to resolve this issue or if it’s a know issue with certain plugins – possibly after an core update? Does anyone have an idea where to look?

Once I re-activated the plugin, I did send out a test reminder that went out correctly. In fact, I had a bunch of ‘stalled’ emails got sent out *late* after reactivating. I’ve seen similar behavior with other plugins that need the same process in order to work correctly after some other update occurs. I was just hoping there might be something to look for.
I’ve done quite a bit of customizing of this plugin and use it with events-made easy to send event reminders for people who have signed up for events. I’ve set up a process for the reminders to be loaded automatically when people sign up for the event. It’s worked pretty well until a couple of months ago but I hadn’t been monitoring it and didn’t realize it had ‘stalled’.
There aren’t a whole lot of options available for this kind of functionality. . .
