Remove a footer

I just took over ownership of a WP site. I want to remove the footer content (it’s a big blue box with dated styling) and just use some widgets to place content at the bottom. The problem is I don’t know where to find the footer to remove it. What I know is that it is a div called above-footer and I think is is above the themes footer. Any direction would be appreciated!
