    Hi,

On a couple of websites hosted on different servers within our infrastructure we’re getting the error google_api_connection_fail.

Upon further checking I came across this post:
    https://github.com/google/site-kit-wp/issues/4569

With the suggestions in that post I have narrowed it down to connections with IPv6 which return a 403 on https://sitekit.withgoogle.com while the connection through IPv4 returns a 200.

I also saw some youtube embed connections being blocked. It seems like the IPv6 range (checked multiple servers, all in the same range) is blocked.

    Can you help unblock it?

Thanks for reaching out @snelcomyavuz, and nice troubleshooting narrowing down the cause to your IPv6 address. If your site is blocked based on it’s IP range, it may need to be addressed at host level, with some configuration changes. So we can determine more on this, please share the following:

    1. Your Site Health information. You can use this form to share privately if preferred.
    2. What if your IPv6 address? I need you to confirm this in order to confirm there is a block.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above.

    Hi James,

I’m actually representing the provider and I don’t have access to the information you want right now. I could ask this to my customers but I am able to provide you with the IPv6 range information and other infrastructure information.

What is the preferred / correct way for me as a representative of the provider to contact you to resolve this?

Thanks for the update @snelcomyavuz. In that case, please share your IPv6 address privately if preferred, using this form. If you mention the hosting provider you represent I’ll also share details of the steps you can take to help alleviate such blocks. One such method is to add an IPGeo Feed.

I’ll keep an eye out for your form response. Thank you!

I just filled the form, you should have my e-mail address.

We are already providing geolocation information for our IP ranges through RIPE but if you have additional information for me on what you actually refer to we should be able to sort this out.

    Awaiting your response.

Appreciate you sharing this additional information @snelcomyavuz. I’ve requested a check for both IP addresses you provided now. Hopefully I’ll have an update for you next week on this.

I also provided some suggestions to the support email listed on your website.

Let me know if you have any questions with the above.

Thank you, I have provided additional details by e-mail. Awaiting response on unblocking the range.

Great! We’ll update you here as soon as I hear back from the check on the addresses you provided.

Just to keep you updated on this, we heard back from your IP address checks. Both IPv6 addresses you provided are indeed blocked, and have been since 26th August. This may be due to some sites within the same IP range being from regions where Google services are blocked, such as Iran. When this occurs, all sites within this range may be blocked. I provided some feedback on how to address this to the support email (on your hosting website).

Let me know if you have any further questions on this.

I did not receive this mail, could you send it again please?

Sorry to hear that @snelcomyavuz. I did receive an response back from the email I sent. I didn’t send any further emails as this already contains the suggestions for hosting providers. I did, however, forward to once more.

Just for clarification (mod note), as support communication should be through the forums here only as per WordPress.org forum guidelines, this is an email with some general IP related troubleshooting suggestions, sent to the contact email on your hosting website.

@snelcomyavuz I’m just following up with you to check whether the issue persists? I ask as these issues can sometimes clear themselves, or you may have added an IP Geofeed based on the suggestions provided.

After the IPGeo Feed was processed this issue was resolved. Thank you!
