Hi Paul,
Thanks for using our plugin and reaching out to us. I understand the space in prefix/suffix can be annoying but we have decided not to change that.
Instead we have just pushed out a new release of our plugin (version 5.5.5) that add’s the possibility to use a wc_post_id_product_id attribute in your feed.
For example:

Hope this helps?

Hi Eva,
Thanks for your answer to my question.
Unfortunately this won’t be a solution in our case as we would like to add a suffix behind the SKU field.
I only showed the wc_post_id_ field to show this didn’t work as expected as well.
Thanks,
Paul
Hi Paul,
Ok. Just for you we have just pushed out a new release that removes spaces in between prefix and suffixes for the SKU attribute. Just update to the latest version of our plugin (5.5.6).

Hi Eva,
Thanks for this update, that should potentially be a solution!
However after updating to 5.5.6 it doesn’t seem to work for me.
Here are my settings:

And the output:
https://pasteboard.co/IePpmqe.jpg
The feed is a custom feed and the field a custom field. The SKU selected is the normal woocommerce SKU field, the second in the dropdown list.
Any clue what could be the problem on my end now?
Thanks,
Paul

Hi Eva,
do you have any idea what the problem might be?
Thanks,
Paul
Hi Paul,
Yes, it won’t work because you added a custom field yourselves. Whereas the removal of spaces for SKU only works for the predefined SKU field.
We have to think of a solution to make this configurable per static and custom added field but have not yet found a good solution.
We will keep you posted.

Hi Eva,
Maybe it would be a good idea to consider implementing a new general option under “Plugin setting” to have no whitespaces be added for the pre- and suffix.
The default setting would then be that there are whitespaces as it’s now. So this wouldn’t be a breaking change for current users. But would allow everyone to control this behaviour as they see fit for their feed.
And if a space is needed for a field it can manually be added.
I believe such an implementation would help more then case by case additions for specific fields.
Thanks,
Paul
Hi Paul,
Thanks for your feedback and idea’s. Unfortunately it is not that easy because for some fields we already strip the space and for others not. Creating an option you suggest will leave the user with the option to enable or disable the spaces for all or none of the fields whereas in reality most of them would prefer a combination of both.
Also, giving users this option will also result in more questions for support as, for example, users will strip the space between the currency and price which will result in disapproved products in Google’s Merchant Center.
Hence, it is a bit more complex unfortunately 🙂
Best,
Eva
