• PMPro Update 1.8.6.6 is causing my site to crash
    learnbenglish.com
I try to update it with wordpress, but it just continues loading and does not do it.
I believe it partially updates, but crashes my site. The host (ipage), suggests it is not a fault of their own.
Could you please advise me how to use PMP, as it looks likely that this will stop me from using it, causing a lot of issues for me and my customers.
    Thanks in advance,
    Mark

    Ps:
Yes, when we checked error for plugin, it was showing file or directory is missing. Please provide below error for your web developer:

Shwetha B: Warning: require_once(/hermes/bosnaweb04a/b425/ipg.learnbenglishcom/wp-content/plugins/paid-memberships-pro/includes/localization.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /hermes/bosnaweb04a/b425/ipg.learnbenglishcom/wp-content/plugins/paid-memberships-pro/paid-memberships-pro.php on line 40 Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required ‘/hermes/bosnaweb04a/b425/ipg.learnbenglishcom/wp-content/plugins/paid-memberships-pro/includes/localization.php’ (include_path=’.:/usr/local/lib/php-5.5.22-amd64/lib/php’) in /hermes/bosnaweb04a/b425/ipg.learnbenglishcom/wp-content/plugins/paid-memberships-pro/paid-memberships-pro.php on line 40

Do you have a backup copy of your site.
Try putting those files from the backup back into your current site using FTP.

I’m not sure why that file is missing for you. I would delete the /paid-memberships-pro/ directory using FTP (DON’T DELETE IT THROUGH THE PLUGINS PAGE IN THE DASHBOARD OR IT WILL DELETE YOUR DATA) and then reinstall.

You can try to fix that one file that is missing by creating …/paid-memberships-pro/includes/localization.php and pasting this content into it: http://plugins.svn.wordpress.org/paid-memberships-pro/trunk/includes/localization.php

But there might be other files missing if this one is.

if you still have trouble with this, try adding on some files at a time.
I have found on 2 or 3 occasions with different hosting companies I get time out errors uploading a few files..
so if you are uploading a whole plugin then some files dont get uploaded because of the time out.

So adding only a few at a time helps this..
I have seen this with both FTP of using the plugin Upload within the WP admin area.

Did you get this fixed? I see your site is up again..
Can you Let us know how you went and what you did to get it sorted..
    Others could benefit later..

    thanks

I followed Jason’s advice exactly, uploading the plugin again to the site by FTP. I also had a problem updating wordpress, so it could be related to that. So I also did the same thing via FTP for the latest version of wordpress.
After these actions, it fixed the problem and kept my data in the PMP plugin.

    However…
After testing a purchase, it led to a message on the screen:
“Internal Server Error: The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. More information about this error may be available in the server error log.”

Otherwise new registrations are successful again, receiving the welcome email and logging in with the email/password combination.

This error can be caused by a variety of issues but is most likely caused by a corrupt .htaccess file. Check to see if there is an .htaccess file in the directory where the error is being generated or any directory above in the tree. If so, temporarily rename the .htaccess file and refresh the page. If the error does not reappear, the .htaccess file is the issue. If the error still happens then rename the file and save permalinks again within WP.
    See if this helps.

If not do a search in Google for many reasons why this can happen.

If all is solved can you please mark this problem as [resolved]

    Thanks

That error also shows up sometimes when you don’t have HTTPS/SSL setup but have PMPro configured to force SSL. FYI
