    Hi there

I want to restrict access to Buddypress pages until members have been approved by Admin but can’t seem to find a way to achieve this ie.

Member status is set to “pending”
    Buddypress Add-On is installed

Buddypress Restrictions are set to “Give members access to all of Buddypress” (because that is what I want ONCE they’ve been approved ie. are no longer “pending”.)

For all “non-default” pages, restricting access to “Annual Membership” excludes members who have signed up for “Annual Membership” but are still “Pending” (which is what I want), however, for Buddypress pages such as “Activity”, “Members” etc. members still have access even though their status is still set to “Pending”.

I suspect this is due to a conflict between the Buddypress Add-On and PMPro settings but can’t see any way to override or how it’s being implemented. Any suggestions?

    With many thanks in advance
    Nik

  • Hi Nik,

hope you don’t mind me jumping in here, but I recently did a similar thing. The PMPro Roles addon is useful here, since it lets you create a distinct WP role for members, e.g. ‘Members’.

All new unapproved members are still subscribers, until they are approved as members. That way, you can restrict or grant access based on role.

    Just my two cents. 🙂

    Hi Leo

Of course I don’t mind… and thank you. I am already using the “User Role Editor” plug-in so although I’ve yet to check the add-on you mention, I guess that could work.

Would still be good to find a solution that only relies on PMPro/Buddypress Add-On though. It’s frustrating (and slightly odd) that it works for other pages but not those designated by Buddypress 😉

    Hi there,

Thank you for using Paid Memberships Pro.

You may use the PMPro Approvals Add On as well to approve members. Only once members are approved they will gain access to member only content.

You may need to adjust your BuddyPress Integration settings a bit or restrict the content for non-members by either using pmpro_hasMembershipLevel function or the [membership] shortcode. Here is a link to all the available content control options – https://www.paidmembershipspro.com/documentation/content-controls/

    I hope this helps.
