[Plugin: Networks for WordPress] setup & config questions

(ddean, it appears you make all the plugins that interest me, I congratulate you!)

So I have a multi site WP instllation.

My main site is http://www.firstdomain.com

I then set up other blogs. One of which is called http://www.firstdomain.com/mynewsite

I mapped the domain so this new site is now http://www.mynewsite.com

I now want to make a new site that is http://www.mynewsite.com/newyork

I’m assuming this is the plugin to help me to do this, only I’m not sure how to do it.
I have gone to the Network control panel and it says I have one network http://www.myfirstdomain.com and this network has 10 blogs (which all makes sense) but how do I make http://www.mynewsite.com my new network?

I think if I cannot login across networks I will have to revert to my previous solution and give this a miss (although I still need sub domains for my mapped subbed domain. I don’t think it’s possible, is it?)

So to revert to how it was before (for other peoples information) you MUST make sure you re-assign all the blogs you want to keep, back to your origional network.

(I have found this out the very long and painful way)

If anyone can think of how I can solve my sub domain, in a mapped sub-domain problem.
Then please let me know.

Q2. I think other plugins have fudged the cookies somehow to create a persistent sign-on, but that’s been 1) too much of an assumption about who will be administering each domain, and 2) too far from the purpose of the plugin.

Your site admin credentials from your original network still work for all other networks, unless you don’t want them to.

Q1. Your path should almost certainly just be “/” and DEFINITELY shouldn’t be “//”. Your comment triggered a thought: Are you set to use subdomains or subdirectories? If you are set to use subdomains, that could explain a lot of these problems.

deffinately subdirectories. (poor choice of words by me, sorry)

I think the fact that I can’t log in across networks will keep me to look at other options for my purpose.
(or at least take a longer consideration of my other options).
I had an exciting time changing everything back from where I got it to.
Thank you so much for the time you have taken to help me this far.
