    Manually updated WPStats to 1.8.5 and that seemed to resolve the issue. I can get in now at least.

    I’m sorry for the inconvenience. There was an error in the initial release of WordPress.com Stats 1.8.5 that caused this error in pre-3.0 installs. As you’ve discovered, it should be fixed if you download the newest set of files from the repository.

    If you’d like to disable the notice, there is an option in the Settings menu for WordPress.com Stats.
