The URL of the images must contain the same domain as the website. The plugin does not work with content images from external servers. Please check the URL of the images’ sources whether this is the case.
All the images are from the same domain.
Would you please name the URL of the website?
Richtig, Henning 🙂 Die von wordpress.org sehen es jedoch lieber, hier auf englisch zu schreiben.
So, up till now unfortunately I do not have any explanations for that. In short time I will publish a new version of the plugin with a revised algorithm to recognize the first image in the content.
I would be glad if you would stay patient and will report your experiences with the new version.
Oh, this would be great. Right now I deactivated it and wait for an update. I will patiently give it another try because it would answer one of my central questions: Why is my bounce rate above 80%?
Having “related posts” without thumbnails ist not very attractive. But thumbnails are mostly generated from the “featured image”. And so I expect better results when having featured images, changed with your plugin, and then using them with a related posts plugin.
Dear Hinjiriyo,
I just downloaded the plugin and have the same issue as previous blog authors. Hundreds of images not identified despite pictures appearing in the html. I think the reason is that these older posts use a file path for uploaded images that miss the www prefix in the domain name:
http://trulytherese.se/wp-content/uploads/kalender_mejl.png (identified)
vs
http://www.trulytherese.se/wp-content/uploads/kalender_mejl.png (not identified)
I look forward to start using the next version of your plugin as soon as it its released.

The new version 8.3 with a revised recognition of the first image in posts is out now.
I would be glad if you all would report your new experiences with this version.
Where is the image in your post? Could not see it in my smartphone
In my desktop browser I can see the image. The first image in your content is the portrait of Thilo, right?
So the image element has the class attribute with the image’s ID as stored in the database. And the ID is valid as this link shows it:
http://www.henning-uhle.eu/?attachment_id=1226
So the algorithm can find the image by its ID. In your case: it should do it.
I also have tested the rest of the algorithm for the case no ID is there. I compared its result with the image URL of the link around this image.
Fortunately the result yields the same string as the href value. So the algorithm can find the image by its URL. In your case: it should do it.
Unfortunately it does not yield any hint about a reason why the image could not be found by the plugin. I have to do other work now. Maybe I will get an idea…
Yes, Martin, you are right, the Thilo image is the correct one. And it would be great if a solution can be found.
Hi Martin,
This new release (8.3) worked wonderfully for me. It detected the first images of my posts and set them as featured images.
Thank you very much for the update!
Thank you for your feedback, Jessie!
Works like a charm now. Great work!
