    PHP v. 7.1.6
    Plugin v. 5.1.1

One one of my sites I am seeing this error in my logs, occuring irregularly at intervals of between 2-10 minutes:

PHP Recoverable fatal error: Object of class WP_Error could not be converted to string in /home/.../wp-includes/kses.php on line 1249

When I disable the Google Analytics Dashboard plugin, the error stops.

When I re-enable, the error starts again.

  • Hi,

Are there any additional errors listed in your PHP error log or Google Analytics > Errors & Debug screen?

Have you tried to uninstall and reinstall the plugin?

    No.

No, but I’ll do that now and report back.

OK, I did that and the problem recurred. There is a delay of several hours between the time that I re-enable GADWP and the error starts – this is consistent with what I experienced before as well. The problem is only on one site so I am thinking probably a theme conflict; the theme has its own internal caching system so perhaps that could be tied to it. (Maybe a nonce issue?)

Anyway, I just want to report it — I’ll experiment with rolling back to a previous version of GADWP to see if it helps, as I didn’t have the error before. I like GADWP as i is very convenient to be able to see the analytics data in the site dashboard, but it is not a critical function for the website — so if it can’t be resolved I’ll just remove the plugin.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the feedback.

Try to enable debugging, see https://codex.wordpress.org/Debugging_in_WordPress, it could give more hints.

Also, have a closer look to your functions.php file. Maybe there’s a tracking code customization that generates the error.

If you manage to identify it, let me know.

    Thank you!

I’m sorry to say that I had already tried debugging and it gave me no clue– just some false leads that didn’t fix the problem. So I decided to start de-activating and re-activating plugins one by one, and GADWP seemed to be the first one where the error stopped…. only now it has recurred again, even with GADWP disabled…. so this turns out to be a false lead as well. The problem started up again after a period of roughly 11 hours — so now I am again at a loss.

Sorry to waste your time — about the one thing I’ve learned so far is that I need to wait longer before assuming that the problem has been rectified.
