• Hello.

I really like this plug-in, but I was wondering if I can use a lightbox that is not included.

I have implemented in other areas of my website the lightbox called PhotoSwipe.

Is it possible to use this lightbox instead?

… And you had to choose one of the few open source scripts not (yet) supported in Photonic! 🙂

No, unfortunately the effort to integrate a script with the plugin is non-trivial. However, there may be a way, depending on what you want to do.

What are you displaying on your site?

    1. On any given page, are you displaying a single album with multiple photos?
    2. Or, are you displaying a collection of albums (with one thumbnail showing up for each album)?

Regardless of which of the above applies to you, for your lightbox option, pick “None”.

Now, if you have option (1) above, there is nothing you will hopefully need to do – it should work with the lightbox that you are using, though I don’t know if a collection of thumbnails will be treated as a gallery by your lightbox script.

If you have option (2) above, the first thing you will need is to go to Photonic → Settings → Generic Options → Overlaid Popup Panel → Enable Interim Popup for Album Thumbnails, and select that option. By default when you click on an album thumbnail it starts showing all the photos in that album in the lightbox, but by selecting this option, there is an interim overlay that comes up, with thumbnails for each photo in an album. My expectation is that the lightbox will now work for the photos in this overlay.

Again, I have no familiarity with Photoswipe, so I don’t know if the above will work. If it does, well and good, otherwise you might have to wait until I add support for it.
