Hi,
This usually happens if you have the Wordfence Firewall enabled.
Disabling of setting in to “learning mode” and whitelisting that edit mode action of Elementor, should solve this.

Thank you Annie! I’m not using Wordfence plugin. Any other conflicts?
There are a number of things that could cause this, depending a lots of factors.
Please follow these steps, so we can try to figure this out:
https://wordpress.org/support/topic/please-read-before-you-post-an-issue/
Another thing that comes to mind is do you meet all the requirements:
https://docs.elementor.com/article/38-requirements
This helped me in some configurations too:

Thank you again! I think now I have an idea, I’m using a theme on WP.com not .org. I can create a page and all is fine but can’t edit the pages of existing theme.

In that case I should be fine because I’ve a business plan and a .com domain. I don’t see why it is not loading then.
Have you checked the requirements of that bussiness plan? PHP version etc?

It’s the Swell theme but I can’t find any information about the PHP version.
I had a quick look at the business plan, but can´t seem to find it eather.
As you are their customer, I am pretty sure you can send them a support ticket and ask about it?
Hi,
Hmmm that should be fine then..
I know you do not want to switch themes, but have you tried switching to for example the defauelt twenty seventeen or OceanWP is a great compatible theme?
Just to make sure its not something with your theme?

I don’t think it has to do with the theme. I tried to use Elementor on other pages beside the homepage and it works fine. The problem is just with the homepage it seems.
Ok, and does this theme has special setting perhaps for its homepage template?
The fact that Elementor just works fine on the other pages, kind a tells me it is not Elementor, but some setting of the theme, and more specific a setting in the theme’s homepage template?
When I look at the Swell theme’s discription: https://wordpress.com/theme/swell/, this is what it says about the homepage template:
The home page template comes with two areas to display background videos. It supports Vimeo and YouTube. If you don’t want to use videos, you can opt to show images instead.
Maybe this homepage template is so predfined, it overwrites or disrupts Elementor?
Why not use another theme template as a homepage? What theme template is active on the other pages you are able to edit with Elementor?
Why is it, by the way, you absolutely want to keep this theme, if I may ask?
Did you try, just to test it, if another default theme has the same issue’s with homepage? I run 50+ sites with OceanWP + Elementor combo and do not have this issue.
