    Hi.

I’ve set up the a notification for WordPress updates.

Just for testing purposes I rolled back a plugin to make sure there were updates available. I even marked the check box for “Send if no updates”. Notification was set up to be sent every five minutes.

To make sure outgoing emails could be sent I set up a alert for updated post. Tested that and received the email.

But the email for WordPress updates wasn’t sent until after 26 (twenty six) hours. It was then sent every five minutes until my host blocked outgoing mail.

My host has deleted the block and I have tested outgoing emails with the updated post alert. Everything is up and running. I then set the WordPress update alert to be sent every hour. This was set up 16 (sixteen) hours ago and still no email was sent.

What can be causing this behaviour?

Hi @dropshot is your WP Cron working properly? You can check this on the Tools > Site Health screen.

It looks like the cron event cannot be executed and then if the option “Send if no updates” is checked, this is an expected behavior to get the email every 5 minutes or 1 hour or X days, etc (depends on the schedule setting).

    Thanks for your reply!

I’m not sure how to check that one the Site Health Screen. There is nothing telling me it’s not working.

Ran this test: Set up a page with a scheduled publish time. Page was published on that time. So, seems like wp-cron is working. Right?

I’m not sure what you mean with your second paragraph. What is expected, and when?

I did receive the notifications earlier. But only 26 hours after activating. Nothing from activation time until first alert was changed.

    Update.

Notifications is sending again. Also this time about 26 hours after activation. What might be causing this delay?

Thanks for the update. It’s very hard to tell what may be wrong. Could you take a look at the WP Cron tasks? You can use our free Advanced Cron Manager plugin. You should see there the tasks from Notification plugin and when they should run.
