No attachment in backup email
-
Hi I’m using version 4.0 of WP-DBManager on this website running WordPress 7.1.1 on PHP 8.3.33.
Although the ‘Attach Backup File’ is set to Yes, no attachments arrive with the email. I have tried setting it to No and then resetting to Yes, but that made no difference.
Thank you

Hi,
I can’t reproduce this on my end.
The plugin passes the backup file to WordPress’s wp_mail() whenever “Attach Backup File” is set to Yes. When the email arrives with the file name, checksum and size but no attachment, the file was almost always dropped further down the line. Could you help me narrow it down?
1. How big is the backup file? The size is in the email body. A database dump can easily go over the 10–25 MB most mail servers and providers accept. Some providers strip the attachment rather than reject the whole email.
2. Are you using an SMTP or mail plugin, such as WP Mail SMTP, FluentSMTP or Post SMTP, or a service like SendGrid, Mailgun, Amazon SES or Brevo? Most of these have attachment size limits, and some also filter by file type (.sql / .gz).
3. Does a small backup attach? Try turning on “GZIP Database Backup File” to shrink the file. Then go to Database → Manage Backup DB, select a backup and click “E-mail” to send it by hand.
4. If you have a mail log (your SMTP plugin’s log, or a plugin like WP Mail Logging), check whether the message was logged with an attachment. If the file turns out to be too large, you’ll need to raise your mail provider’s limit. Or set “Attach Backup File” to No and download backups from Database → Manage Backup DB. The email will still confirm that each scheduled backup ran.
