There needs to be a new “UpStream Editor” class. Currently there are 3 Permission classes:

    1) Administrator – Able to do everything…

    2) Upstream Manager – Able to manage the Upstream plugin, and projects, etc.

    3) Upstream User – Able to create projects, edit projects etc.

However, there needs to be a 4th permissions class: “UpStream Editor”. The “UpStream Editor” would have the permissions of the current “Upstream User”.

The “UpStream User” needs to be limited to only updating the “Tasks” and “Milestones” (adding notes, marking as complete, etc) in the “Projects”… And NOT able to create, delete, etc.

The reason being, often businesses don’t want to give regular staff members access to edit the main functions of their program (I have this problem now). Often you simply want the user to complete the tasks, and not be able to change or delete the Projects.

Sometimes employees go exploring and pressing things and mess everything up!

This plugin is great and can/is applied to numerous types of projects/businesses – not just tech related. So the user base of the plugin aren’t always very computer literate.

    Please make these changes.

    Hi there,

I completely understand your situation, but we have deliberately left it as only the 2 UpStream roles.
The reason being is that the plugin could be used 1001 different ways and we can’t cater for every use case ‘out of the box’ as everybody will use it slightly differently.

You are however, able to add custom Roles and custom Capabilities quite easily.
Please see the docs here for a list of capabilities and some instructions – http://upstreamplugin.com/docs/permissions-capabilities/

I hope this helps and if you need help to implement any changes, please let us know and we’ll be happy to help.

    Regards,

    Brant
