Modify thumbnail to lightbox link

How do I allow for the whole thumbnail image to be clickable and linkable? Right now the way the responsive template is setup, you have to hover over the magnifying glass icon to get to the larger lightbox image. But I want even a slight hover over thumbnail image to allow for a click through.
