• My apologies if this has been covered elsewhere (I’ve looked and can’t seem to find it, but may have missed something)…
I’m having a problem viewing the menu of my site with IE (I have 6.0… not sure if this is a problem with other versions). The content floats slightly below the boxes, though if you move the cursor over each line they fall into place (except for the ‘search’ box). Everything is fine with Firefox, my default browser.
Now I do know that IE sucks donkey balls (this seems to have been the response to some other IE questions!), but alas this being the browser used by many, many misguided people I would like to get this problem straightened out.
I’m only a week into WordPress, messing around with .css etc, but thought I had a handle on things until now. Ho hum. Help very much appreciated.

  • Well I would be delighted. They need not be very fancy. A nice range of coordinating : ) colors and sexy bgs and we could soon build a new portfolio.

    I’ll do it πŸ™‚

Lovely. I am fitting a style switcher too :).

Well, I’ll keep things as they are for a bit in case anyone else has any answers, but if not will probably switch to Root’s ‘Gemini’ and tweak that.

Root: you weren’t kidding were you? I just switched to your very nice Gemini, which I’ll mess around with for a bit. I’m completely new to all this, but even I can see that the wp-layout.css is infinitely easier to understand. Cheers!

We aim to please. Thank you. Welcome to WordPress. πŸ™‚

    coordinating … that’s me out then πŸ˜›

Yup. You and me both πŸ™‚

Root: And I’ve had a bunch of fun tweaking ‘Gemini’. It’s amazing how much you can learn when you can actually see what you’re doing… thanks for a great layout.
One very, very minor question (more a result of my own obsessive-compulsive tendencies than anything else): when I have a very short comment page (i.e. short entry, one short comment) the menu is too long for the page and ends up superimposed on the footer/background. I’m stumped with this one. Not major, but if you happen to read this and know of a quick fix… if not, no worries.

Yes as I thought. There it is.

Ooh. I’d be interested to see the outcome of this one πŸ˜‰

Wait, where? Would you take pity on someone with only a week’s worth of .css experience and who wants to restore the delightful elegance of your initial code? (I’m assuming flattery works in these cases…)

Aha… I’ll give that a try and will let you know… cheers!

Nope, that didn’t work… I’ll leave my test post on so you can see what I mean (bwventril.com/weblog).
