I have created a page on my blog that is my “menu” for my followers to access multiple links. I recently got an affiliate link for a brand that I want to add, so I copy and paste the URL into the URL section and save the button to create a new one for this link. I then paste the short code into my menu page but when I view the page and click on the button it says the page can not be found. I also notice that it is not connecting to the correct URL (it doesn’t read the same as I copied and paste it into the URL section.) I tried a different URL to see if maybe the link was the issue but the second one didn’t work either. I was even able to access the website by just simply pasting the URL into my browser so I know the link works. I have many buttons and usually copy an old one and just change the text and URL to avoid any issues and this is the first one I have had. I am using Safari as my browser. Please help. If you go to my menu page the issue is the last button.

    Thanks

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi,

I would be nice to know and be able to see the URL you are having problems with. On your site the menu items seem to be working. So let me know the one that doesn’t work.

By the way if the button needs to be the same but only have a different link / text, it’s easier to do this via shortcodes:

    [maxbutton id=x text=”example” url=”https://example.com”%5D

You can see these also under ‘shortcode examples’ in the editor.

The URL that I am trying to link to is http://www.discoverpeach.com/a/amandab. Like I said, I tried another random URL to see if it was this one that was causing the problems but the same thing happened. The last button in my menu is the one I am having issues with and isn’t working. When I click it, it says “404 page not found” and when I look at what it is linking to it’s https://5feetoffashion.com/menuwww.discoverpeach.com/a/amandab. I don’t know why it does that when that’s not the link I put in to the URL section to create the button.

Ah that’s no surprise. You can see that the URL links to your site, and not to the discover peach site. The reason for that is omission of the https:// on the URL.

So you should make sure the URL on the button is the full link to that site – https://www.discoverpeach.com/a/amandab .

wow…I can’t believe that was the problem. I’m so embarrassed! Thank you!

Don’t worry. This happens to all of us at some point 🙂
