Manual Method please bring back

    Please bring back the manual method, which is still there, but hidden. I was moving from one hosting service to another, but was not able to get the key method to work as the domain I was moving to was going to be identical to the one I was moving from; so the target was not active through DNS and thus the key could not be validated using the key method. When the key method failed, Migrate Guru did give me the option to use the manual approach which worked great. This is a fabulous tool but would be even better if there was a way to access the manual method directly. PS I used AI to help me with the manual method, which is pretty complicated; in my case required changes to my hosts file, and to the wp setup file; so I can understand why you would not want to encourage that approach, but in cases like mine, which are not uncommon, it is the only way that can work. This is a wonderful product thank you so much for making it available. It’s the best migration tool out there, having tried many; but it’s difficult to use now as you have to wait for the ‘key’ method to fail before you can get to the manual option.

    We have removed support for FTP-based migrations. Migrate Guru currently supports migrations using the Migration Key method, which requires the plugin to be installed and connected on both the source and destination WordPress sites. Both sites also need to be accessible online during the migration.

    For scenarios where you are moving to a new server while keeping the same domain name (for example, domain.com → domain.com), you can set up the destination site using a temporary or staging URL provided by your new hosting provider.

    Once both installations are accessible, you can install and connect Migrate Guru on both sites and complete the migration using the Migration Key. After confirming that the migrated site is working correctly on the new server, you can update the DNS records to point the domain to the new server.

    I did set up a temporary staging URL; Perplexity was unable to ‘validate it’, and then went to the ‘error screen’ where the fpt method is still available. So in the end, it works, and this is a wonderful tool; it’s just a roundabout path that didn’t used to be needed so a bunch of extra steps; but in the end, I’ll count my blessings; thank you!
