Thank you for using Paid Memberships Pro, I’m really sorry to hear about this issue you are facing.
Can you please ensure that when logging in via the [pmpro-login] shortcode, your username and password match exactly as it may interpret case-sensitive differently. For example if your username is ‘test’ but you try to login with ‘Test’ it may treat it differently.
Any information like this may help us pinpoint the issue with the front-end login functionality.
Please let me know if you notice anything specifically with the details you are using.
Please do not share any login information here as references to the issue but please generalize what you noticed that is different between the login screens. For example, using a capital letter when it should have been lowercase etc.

Thank you for your response. Yes, I checked the user and password and made sure they match exactly.
I forgot to mention that WordPress is installed with multise enabled.
Also, there was (initially) a plugin to hide access to wp-login and wp-admin pages. This was initially on and the login page returned a 404, which is somehow expected (although I thought it would get the right URL via wp_login_url()). In any case, this is disabled and both can be accessed.
Please let me know which additional information you would need.
Thank you for the feedback, for the time being you are able to set the Paid Memberships Pro login page to “Use WordPress Default” to disable the front-end login logic for Paid Memberships Pro.
We will continue to try and replicate this, and test it further on a multisite installation.
