Let me kindly suggest you check the Playlist view of the Video Gallery plugin.
The main video’s position can be changed in accordance with thumbnails position, which can be at the left, right, top and bottom.

The videos do not use the lightbox functionality.

Please be kindly informed that this view exists in the latest 2.2.0 version of the plugin. Please download it from the following link: https://wordpress.org/plugins/gallery-video/#description
After downloading, please, go to “Video Gallery Custom” options: http://prntscr.com/fxxwx6 and select the Playlist view.
Please be kindly informed that the option for changing thumbnail positions is available in the commercial or Pro version of the plugin (all pro options can be found in the section “General options”). If you need some additional information, we will be happy to assist.

Please be kindly informed that the Playlist view is available both in the Free and the Pro version. But the option for changing thumbnails’ position is a pro one.

However, if you like the playlist view and are willing to use it, we will be happy to help you to change the thumbnails position in the free version.
