Hey there, I have the ShareThis plugin installed on a site and when the blog posts are shared on FB, the images do not appear the same size even though they are both 1024×576 px.

The one titled ” HOW MANY CARS WILL BE DASHBOARD-POWERED BY GOOGLE AND APPLE?” appears large when I share it via FB, but the one titled “THE DAWN OF AUDIO UPFRONTS” appears smaller when posted…do you know why this would be?

Please provide your site URL so that we can take a look.

Please note that Facebook’s behavior is a bit different. It crawls the page to get the data to be shared and for that it uses Open Graph Tags present on that page. And if it finds any URL specified in Open Graph tags, then it crawls that URL page and grabs the data to share. This is the native behavior or Facebook and cannot be changed.
You can specify the Title, image, URL or description using the Meta tags only.

Hey, thanks for your response and sorry I forgot the url! Is there a difference that you can see in the Open Graph Tags in those posts that would lead to the difference in image size once shared on FB?

We have checked your site, it seems that Facebook is sharing a proper image, but as we can check you have added multiple “og:image” tags and hence Facebook Debugger is giving error messages like –

“og:image was not defined, could not be downloaded or was not big enough. Please define a chosen image using the og:image metatag, and use an image that’s at least 200x200px and is accessible from Facebook. Image ‘http://www.markramseymedia.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/cardashboard-1024×576.jpg’ will be used instead.”

You can read the warnings and errors –
    https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/og/object?q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.markramseymedia.com%2F2015%2F05%2Fhow-many-cars-will-be-dashboard-powered-by-google-and-apple%2F

We suggest you to keep only one Meta image tag so that Facebook would crawl only one image.
    Hope this helps.

Thanks for your response, does that mean I need to modify the plugin?

You don’t have to make any changes in the Plugin. Please check the Meta tags present on your site. If you are not aware of your site code or Meta tags, we suggest you to contact your site admin/developer.
