Just received notice that there is a new plugin owner and they have already started to reface the plugin. Not happy with the chosen look-and-feel and how it is all in your face. Yoast was bad enough about selling their services but this is worst.

Now, I have to update over 30 sites and integrate GA another way.

    See ya later.

    Hi there,
I’m sorry you decided to leave.

We didn’t actually change anything in the interface. We actually just swapped out graphics that Yoast had with ones for us, and changed the menu icon to a temporary icon (which was of 2 hours ago was changed for the permanent WP UI styled menu icon.

In addition, we also fixed compatibility bugs with WordPress 4.5.

I hope you’ll reconsider us in the future!

FGD, Nothing actually changed but 4 pictures and coding fix’s. Visit the monsterinsights blog to see what Syed has said in his opening blog post and he even answers a ton of questions.

People to fast to jump off the wagon because they can not except change so easily.

@derek : I think the issue is in the developer camp. There should have been a notice somewhere to say “don’t worry, this plugin is still the one you loved before, we just changed the logo”. And why not mentioning Yoast as a co-author ? Or just a little note at the end of the description saying that this code has been written by Yoast ?

    > There should have been a notice somewhere to say “don’t worry, this plugin is still the one you loved before, we just changed the logo”

There actually is one. When you first updated the plugin, an admin notice appears to tell you that. It says “Google Analytics by Yoast is now MonsterInsights. Click here to learn more about this change”. It’s also in the changelog, and there have been announcement from both Yoast’s team and our team.

As we move forward, as has happened already, much of the underlying code is being changed. On .org, an “author” doesn’t signify a person who authored the plugin, it signifies who has access the plugin’s repo as an admin.

@chris : I did not saw the admin notice because I made the update via command-line. Many developers use automated tools to perform the updates, so you should not rely on a message being displayed just once during the update process.

The mention of ownership change in the changelog is not prominent and is very laconic. I would have expected a small but complete sentence saying that Yoast trusts MonsterInsights and a link to one of your respective websites. I would have also expected that this sentence can be found in the description tab, at least during 4 or 6 months after the change.

@derek : It’s not about accepting change, it’s about trust.
