    Decided to move to new host, SiteGround.
    I cannot get Jetpack to connect to WordPress.org (or, whatever it needs to connect to).
    “An error occurred. Please try again.” is as far as I get.

    I’ve checked my rbdaignault/xmlrpc.php – looks fine.
    I’ve uninstalled WordPress (with its messy SiteGround .htaccess file, and its pre-installed SG plugins), and installed a clean WordPress via WP-CLI.

    I’ve removed all plugins including Jetpack (eg: wp-migrate-db-pro, show current template, and, akismet). Re-installed Jetpack.

    Nothing seems to help.
    Any ideas?
    THX

    Hi @beaudaignault

    I think the issue may be that while you’ve set https://beaudaignault.com/rbdaignault to be the homepage of the domain, there isn’t actually a home page set yet for the site.

    The error message we are seeing is this:

    Could not access your home page
    We were unable to access the homepage of your Jetpack-powered site. The wrong HTTP code was returned. 200 is the expected response.

    Array
    (
    [code] => 404
    )

    Can you try setting a homepage and attempt to connect Jetpack again?

    Thanks 🙂
    I have admin > settings > reading > homepage set to a static page (Under Maintenance), if this is what you’re suggesting.
    Else…?

    Hi there

    I have admin > settings > reading > homepage set to a static page (Under Maintenance), if this is what you’re suggesting.

    Do you have it set to a published page that exists on your site? Have you tried setting it to a different page?

    As Bruce mentioned, the homepage of your site is showing a 404 (Page Not Found) error.

    What do you see for the site and home URLs at Settings > General?

    Another possibility could be an issue with your .htaccess file, but you’d need to contact Siteground for help with that.

    Thanks, Dan,
    Yes, I need to dig into .htaccess; I removed from it, a bunch of default Siteground settings.

    Cheers 😉

    We’re still seeing issues with your homepage not displaying at:

    https://beaudaignault.com/rbdaignault/

    Because the page is sending a 404 error, it is breaking the Jetpack connection as you can see here:
