Jetpack Subscription Showing Wrong Message

I have the Jetpack Subscription widget on my site. Occasionally the sign up will go down for minutes to hours. When it is down, the web page displays the message that you already subscribed (the one that appears when someone actually subscribes). Sometimes you will get this message and then refresh the page in a few minutes and it will be correct.

The messages are correct in the widget area.

Any ideas of what’s causing this sporadic issue?
