I’ve got Jetpack 3.5 installed on a WordPress 4.1.4 site running at Dreamhost (DreamPress). If I enable Jetpack’s Markdown module, it breaks revisions in the following way:

    1. Create and publish new post.
    2. Edit said post and save edits as pending revision.
    3. Publish revision.

The post content will now be blank. If I look at the diff of the original post and the pending revision, I see that all of the markdown content is gone in the newer version, which might explain why when I publish that revision it ends up blank (no markdown left to convert to HTML?)

Is this a known issue, and is there anything I can do about it to retain both markdown and revision capability?

Slight correction, it’s WP 4.2.1, not 4.1.4. Thanks!

I can’t seem to be able to reproduce the issue on my end. Do you have any other plugins installed on that site? If so, could you try to deactivate them, one at a time, and let me know if you find a plugin conflicting with JP Markdown?

    Thanks!

Wow, I have to apologize – I just realized that we had a plugin called Revisionary enabled. It’s been there so long that I had forgotten that I wasn’t dealing with standard WordPress revision system any more.

So Revisionary doesn’t correctly preserve the field where the markdown content is stored, I guess. When I disable it, I can’t get into the failed state at all (which makes sense, because you can’t even have a revision that’s not published without the Revisionary plugin).

Kind of a bummer, though, because we rely on the ability for authors to submit revisions of published posts for editorial review before the revisions get published. Not sure how to resolve that issue. Offhand, are there other revision plugins that are considered compatible with Jetpack?

I’m not really familiar with Revisionary, so I can’t tell you much about the conflict. I see you’ve posted in the plugin support forums, and I subscribed to the topic to see if we can work together to get this conflict resolved.

I’ll post there to see if I can help!
